Broadband is a capital-intensive business. If money were no object, every ISP would upgrade their entire footprint to fiber-to-the-home (FTTH). But in a world of limited capital, the real competitive edge doesn't come from simply spending more—it comes from knowing more.
That's the premise behind Opensignal’s suite of network and subscriber intelligence solutions. Our flagship broadband network intelligence platform, ONX Broadband, helps ISPs identify, isolate, and diagnose the drivers of their customers' network experience. Our subscriber intelligence solutions, Broadband CarrierVision and MarketVision, provide highly granular near-real-time visibility into broadband market share and customer movements. Together, these products give operators what they need to act with confidence: a unified view of where the subscriber experience is failing in the home and which competitors are capturing the customers who leave.
ONX Broadband provides a complement to operators’ internal telemetry by providing visibility into what telemetry doesn’t see: in-home Wi-Fi and off-net CDN (Content Delivery Network) performance. Additionally, it provides a high-volume, near-real-time source of independent data to benchmark your network versus competitors. Whether it’s identifying a poorly configured Wi-Fi gateway or providing support for a marketing campaign to show off the superiority of your network, ONX addresses your needs. A growing number of Tier 1 ISPs in the US and Canada are current customers.
Broadband CarrierVision and MarketVision are the de facto standards in North America for measuring broadband customer subscriber flows. They are used by most of the top 10 ISPs in the U.S. to help with developing marketing campaigns and understanding and tracking their competitive position.
Multiple Tier 1 and Tier 2 ISPs are current customers of both our network and subscriber intelligence solutions, which gives them unparalleled insight into ways to win more customers, reduce churn, and increase ARPUs.
Case Study 1: Reducing Churn Risk by Upgrading Underperforming Routers
Using Opensignal data, a major U.S. telco saw that the network experience of its consumer fiber customers was well behind other fiber-based peers. The telco and Opensignal partnered to identify a specific under-performing router model that was providing degraded in-home Wi-Fi. The telco found the under-performance so concerning that it replaced the existing router model for more than 100,000 customers, significantly reducing churn risk.
Case Study 2: Targeting Fiber Growth with Competitive Market Intelligence
Using Opensignal data, a mid-market U.S. broadband carrier was able to strategically expand their fiber offerings. Opensignal partnered with the carrier to track market share and acquisition performance in small, new-build markets, showing the carrier which areas were performing best among both movers and non-movers as well as from whom and which tech types they were winning customers. Integrating our data into their localized marketing campaigns has allowed the operator to win more than its fair share of customers in these areas.
